T&S Farm in Dukedom Tennessee is a farm that was contracted to Tyson foods which was, in turn, contracted to supply meat to McDonald’s. In this case, chickens.
Recently a video has been released of the treatment of their chickens in the T&S Farm and, well, it’s shocking. Factory workers are seen beating the chickens with spikes and stepping on their heads to snap their necks. Along with this, the chickens live in maggot invested barns, overcrowded and full of carcasses.
Truly appalling stuff. In light of this, both McDonald’s and Tyson Foods have terminated their contracts with T&S.
Director of Investigations for Mercy For Animals, the people who shot the footage, Matt Rice said:
This type of abuse runs rampant in the animal agriculture industry, which seeks to maximize profit and minimize costs at the expense of animals, public health and the environment.
The organisation has now called for McDonald’s to start implementing meaningful animal welfare policies.
