The sun is always shining, everyone is at the beach having a ‘barbie’ and they earn some of the best wages in the world… So we’re not really surprised that the people of Sydney are full-on ecstatic to be there and happy to spread the love.

Fancy travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler officially declared Sydney as the home to the friendliest folk in the world, with the people of Dublin coming in a close second. Skiers heaven Queenstown, in New Zealand, came in third, because if you love the ‘riding the powder’ and you’re constantly surrounded by it what is there to be grumpy about?

How many smiley-happy places have you ticked off the list?

1. Sydney, Australia

2. Dublin, Ireland

3. Queenstown, New Zealand

4. Kraków, Poland

5. Bruges, Belgium

6. Edinburgh, Scotland

7. Kyoto, Japan

8. Budapest, Hungary

9. Auckland, New Zealand

10. Reykjavik, Iceland

Then there’s the unfriendly ones… don’t count on a smile and a pat on a back if you visit Caracas in Venezuela. Many people sadly live in vertical shanty towns covering the cities mountainside:

But hey, it can’t be all that bad, right?
