This English Town Has Had Superfast WiFi Built Into Its Pavements

If you’ve ever wanted to watch porn in public, you’re in luck. One English town has had superfast WiFi built into its pavements, at speeds so impressive you can download 30 minutes of video in just 35 seconds.

Under a Virgin Media scheme, Chesham High Street in Buckinghamshire has become the first in the UK to benefit from this super speedy internet. It’s free for all users, and is powered by processors under the ‘smart pavement’ and via strategically placed ‘cabinets’ – nifty.

Plus, it’s not just randy pedestrians who’ll benefit from this free and fast internet. The WiFi is so powerful that is stretches to local businesses, who will no longer need to pay for their broadband.

Virgin Media’s Gregor McNeil told Get Bucks:

“Not only is this the first time we’ve built metropolitan WiFi directly from our street cabinets, it’s also the UK’s first deployment of a WiFi connected pavement. It’s literally public WiFi under your feet. We want to build more networks like this across the UK and encourage more forward thinking councils just like Chesham to get in touch.”

We’d like to be next please!
