A pedestrian has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition, after reports state that part of his face was ‘ripped off’ by a sofa falling from luxury apartments.
The unidentified man, thought to be in his 20s, suffered severe injuries to his face and head as the two-seater sofa fell 130ft from the apartment block into the busy street in West London.
One witness said:
He looked like his face had been ripped off. It was raining and where the drops were hitting his face it was making him scream in agony.
The five star hotel has eleven luxury penthouses priced at £9,533-a-month, with suites ranging between £2,800 and £339-a-night. A police spokesman confirmed that the police were called to the site at 8.54am on Friday morning.
The police statement was:
The man in his 20s was taken to an East London hospital by air ambulance. His injuries are said to be critical but stable.
The hotel has acknowledged the accident, but say that the furniture came from one of the privately owned flats. There has been no information released on who was responsible for dropping a sofa onto a busy street.
Our thoughts go out to the poor guy and we hope he makes a full recovery.
