We all have a favourite John Lewis Christmas advert. From the snowmen in love, to the little boy who can’t wait to give his parents a present, to the rabbit who just didn’t want his friend to miss Christmas Day, they’re always heart-warming, and they’re always full of festive joy.
So naturally, we were pretty excited to see that the John Lewis Christmas Advert had dropped – a day early too! We eagerly pressed play, sure that we would be crying in seconds, booking our tickets home for Christmas shortly after, and then rushing to John Lewis to buy whatever cute animal featured this year.
But this wasn’t quite how it panned out.
There was no acoustic cover of a much loved song. There were no animals in love. There was nothing particularly heart-warming at all. Was this to be the year that John Lewis let us down?!
Quite frankly, there was despair in the helloU office.
Then we realised that not all was as it seemed. This advert wasn’t for giant retailer John Lewis, but for a particularly clever local business – John Lewis of Hungerford:
This is the cheekiest marketing we have ever seen… but we have to say, we’re pretty impressed.
The real John Lewis Christmas Advert drops on Friday at 8am, so watch this space!
