In 2002, five-year-old Julian Hernandez was reported missing by his mother. His father was supposed to take him to pre-school, but they never showed up.
While police always suspected that he had been abducted by his dad- Bobby Hernandez – their extensive searches failed to provide any results. Julian remained a ‘missing person’ for 13 years. We can’t even begin to imagine how tough it would be on the mother not knowing where your child is for that amount of time.
Now an 18-year-old in Ohio has been confirmed to be the missing boy. He had been living with his father (pictured below) under a different name.
When Julian had tried to apply for college, it was discovered that his social security number didn’t match his other details. He told a teacher, who then quickly found that Julian was listed as missing.
His mother is ‘ecstatic’ that her son has finally been found. And as Police officer Johnny Evans told WVTM13:
“I’ve been doing this 25 years and it’s something I’ve never experienced before.
That’s the reason you never give up and you keep looking.”
Bobby Hernandez has been charged with ‘tampering with custody’, and Alabama authorities will have to decide whether to charge him with the original abduction offence.
