The Royal Marines put on a display of unarmed combat techniques (AKA badassery) at London Waterloo station, as part of London Poppy Day. It’s a slightly terrifying chance to see what it’s like to be a Commando. We’d be terrible, we know.
What do we learn from this? Not to mess with these guys.
They are part of one the world’s most elite forces, the training takes a whopping 32 weeks and is renowned for being one of the hardest, like, ever. Five men have died just during this training in the past five years alone.
A woman did successfully got into the rigorous training scheme and earned a green beret by completing it, but this didn’t sway the government’s decision to continue keeping women off of the front line. Completing the course qualified her only for the army units that support 3 Commando Brigade.
You know what she is? An absolute badass.
