Following strike action this week one junior doctor’s angry Facebook post has gone viral.
NHS junior doctors went on a planned 24-hour strike on Tuesday, following proposed contract changes that they say threaten the lives of patients in their care.
Despite the new contract offering junior doctors – a term which includes medics who have just graduated through to those with nearly a decade’s experience – an 11% pay rise, it comes at the cost of cutting down extra payments made for the many unsociable hours they already work:
This basically makes their new pay rise, a pay reduction, all without addressing the fact that they are already over worked. Dr. Arun Takhar, who alongside nearly half of the junior doctor workforce, had to work during this week’s strikes, got fed up with people claiming that the strike was putting people in danger and posted the below to his Facebook:
Well said Arun.
