Hoping to contend with their upmarket competitors (such as Five Guys) McDonalds have announced that they’ll be introducing table service in 400 of their UK restaurants.
You’ll order your food at a digital kiosk, and then – we’d imagine pretty promptly – a waiter or waitress will bring it to your table.
They’re also aiming to expand their “signature collection” – gourmet burgers designed by Michelin starred chefs – following the success of this range in 30 restaurants.
As Paul Pomroy told The Independent, McDonalds reported impressive sales last year:
“I’m pleased with the performance of the UK business in 2015. Together with our franchisees we have delivered another strong year of growth, fuelled by a relentless focus on our customers’ evolving expectations and tastes.
As we look ahead, in 2016 we will continue to focus on providing great value and variety, as well as invest in our restaurants, our people and our menu, to ensure customers enjoy a great experience every time they visit us.”
We can imagine with these new changes, the fast-food giant will be going from strength to strength.
