Cara Delevingne Isn’t Happy With The New Facebook Dislike Buttons…

Go to anyone on the streets and ask them to name the first two things they think of. Fact: it will be Facebook and Cara Delevinge.

Here’s another fact for you, that fact there wasn’t actually a fact – more of a plot driver to get the article going. Why? You ask. Well, ol’ Cara’s had a word or two to say about the new reaction buttons on Facebook…

She thinks they’re going to promote bullying. Ever since the invention of the wheel, man has been yearning for a dislike button on Facebook for some reason and now we – sort of – have one, one of the biggest celebs of the moment isn’t happy.

To be fair, if there’s something to do with social media, she should have a bit of an idea on what she’s going on about since she has around 36 million followers across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. But who’s counting, right? It’s not like I’m boasting a pretty hefty 70 on Twitter or anything…

Speaking to The Sunday Times about Facebook (???), Cara said:

If you can go around disliking someone’s pictures, that is going to set off a whole new wave of bullying. These companies are making so much money, they just want the new thing. If it’s something that is going to cause people harm, I really think we should steer against that. ‘Like’ away — but if you have a bad thought about someone, keep it to yourself.

In principle, it’s a good point well made but, really, the buttons are there for empathy and, as long as there’s not a button saying “You’re a d*ck”, then things should be alright…

Why is someone laughing at jellyfish? Anyway, saying you’re angry or sad at someone isn’t bullying, is it? I suppose you could use the nice emojis ironically? And nothing’s stopped peope from saying nasty things in the comments all these years! Jeez.

Cara, I know you’re reading, dm me your mobile number, we’ll go for coffee and I’ll explain it.
