With around a week to go before the John Lewis Christmas advert is released, fans are starting to speculate on what this year’s theme will be.
So far we’ve had cute kids, snowpeople in love, penguins in love, lonely old people and animals on a trampoline.
Also the one where the rabbit made the incredibly brave decision to disturb a hibernating bear.
In real life, that would have ended in tears.
The advert’s release tends to fall on the second Thursday (or sometimes the second Friday) of November, and – for a lot of people – it’s become as iconic a Christmas moment as the first time you see the Coca-Cola Christmas truck.
This year, we’ve been given a hint as to what to expect.
A source has revealed to OK magazine (of all people):
“This year the John Lewis advert will revolve around a big cuddly monster. If you can imagine a cross between the Gruffalo and a huge cute teddy bear, that’s the angle they’ve gone for. The creative team behind the John Lewis advert have pulled out all the stops this year. It’s going to be like nothing they’ve ever done before and will be a million miles away from Buster the Boxer.”
It’s also believed that the song in this year’s advert will be a version of Last Christmas, in a touching tribute to George Michael.
The Wham! singer died on Christmas Day last year, at just 53-years-old.
It’s unknown who John Lewis have chosen to cover the track.
We’ll know sooner rather than later, and we can’t wait.
