Woman’s Neighbor Wouldn’t Throw Away Their Pizza Box, So She Made The Best Out Of The Smelly Situation

One woman from Dallas has just made the best out of a stinky situation. Imgur user Queenlaqueffa‘s neigbor wouldn’t throw away their pizza box for at least 10 days, so she summoned her artistic powers and transformed it into a contemporary art installation. Adding a humorous piece next to the trash, she also shamed the neighbor in a way even they couldn’t get angry at.

Though a lot of people bash modern art for its avant-garde aesthetic, it is celebrated for its forward-thinking artists. Developing over the course of roughly 100 years, it actually incorporates many major art movements and is seen in an eclectic range of styles.

Not to be confused with contemporary art, the “modern art” label usually refers to the late 19th and early-to-mid 20th century art. Works produced during this time showcase artists’ abilities to reimagine, reinterpret, and even reject traditional aesthetic values of preceding styles.

On the other hand, contemporary art is the art of today, produced in the second half of the 20th century or in the 21st century. Contemporary artists’ works are a dynamic combination of materials, methods, concepts, and subjects that continue challenging the boundaries that were already under fire in the 20th century. It is distinguished by the lack of a uniform, organizing principles, ideology, or “-ism”. So, keeping in mind that contemporary art is part of a cultural dialogue that concerns larger contextual frameworks (personal and cultural identity, family, community…), you can easily call this funny gag a piece of contemporary art. If you’re brave enough.
